6th Grade is reading Esperanza Rising, exploring perseverance and personal growth through the lens of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl.
7th Grade is reading Restart, reflecting on the pressures of fitting in and finding the courage to stand up for others.
8th Grade is reading Freak the Mighty, discovering themes of confidence, courage, and the greatness within each of us.
Over the next few weeks, students will be wrapping up these units with creative writing projects, crafting their own narratives inspired by the characters and themes they’ve explored.
Our students have loved these stories and are producing incredible writing already — we can’t wait to see their final narratives come to life! 💡📝
